Bake & Trini/French inspired saltfish


Bake & trini/French inspired saltfish paired with a rosé sangria. Get in my belly!😍


Bake Ingredients:

4 cups all purpose flour

4 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1tbsp white sugar

pinch of ground cinnamon

1 tbsp butter

lukewarm water


Saltfish ingredients:

Salted cod (1 package)

2 minced garlic cloves

half a chopped onion

1 - 2 tbsp olive oil

a pinch of black pepper

2 sprigs of cilantro

1 tbsp beet horseradish (optional)

1 tsp mustard (optional)


Mix all the dry ingredients together and crumble in the butter at the end. Adding 1 tbsp lukewarm water at a time slowly mix ingredients until a dough is formed. Knead dough for 2-3 minutes and rub a little oil over the formed dough. Cover in plastic and store in a warm place for atleast 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into two parts, roll into a 6 inch circle and store it in a warm place for about 15 minutes. Pre-heat oven to 350, bake for 25 minutes and serve with butter at room temperature and saltfish (recipe below).

For the saltfish, we used salted cod (available in the cold section in most grocery stores). Boil the cod fish to remove the salt content. Drain and add in some chopped onions, garlic, olive oil, cilantro and black pepper. We added in some beet horseradish and mustard as well (hence the French inspired :) ) Enjoy with your favorite beverage - its nutritious and delicious!
